GTA6 really will cost $100.
And Donkey Kong is $70. Maybe only the A+++ franchises (Mario, Mario Kart, Zelda, Smash)will be $80?

It’s a slippery slope and once one company does it, others will follow.

PS5 games have been $70 for the past 4.5 years. $80 seems high, but I'm ok with it if it's the only game of its series on the console moving forward. The industry is changing and trying to figure out the right pricing model to be sustainable, given the cost and time needed for development.

The price of the games isn’t an issue for me. They were $50 on the NES when I was a kid. $70-$100 seems fair at this point. Nintendo’s first party titles are usually top tier games that feel worth it, and they’re often discounted during holiday sales after they’ve been out for a bit.
But
That Donkey Kong looks uninspired. And after all of the dlc released in waves, is there anyone dying for more Mario Kart? Not launching with a new 3d Mario blows. I’ll get one when the next new Mario or Zelda game are ready to go, but I won’t feel any fomo this summer for not having this.

I'm more interested in this Mario Kart than I was for 8. It seems like a big step forward for the franchise.
Also, don't sleep on Metroid Prime 4.

What's more interesting is that they didn't announce a big holiday season release.
Is it that janky Pokemon game or they prepping something big? Both Mario Kart and Donkey Kong are in the summer.

This is an unpopular take, but I don’t enjoy Metroid Prime. I’m easily motion sick, and so frantic first-person shooters don’t appeal to me. I used to play Goldeneye and Timesplitters 2 to the point of nausea, but I’ve never played a COD game because of it. I played the first Prime, but it felt more like an endurance test than fun. What I really need to play is Dread. I’ve only played through the original and Super Metroid.

Also, how hard would it have been to have a new Animal Crossing ready to go?

Apex Legends owes a lot to the traversal mechanics found in Prime.

A big video game with lots to do is by far the best bang for your entertainment buck.
Think about how much a movie ticket or concert ticket or football game ticket costs, and how many hours of entertainment you get from that.
In that context video game prices could triple -or more- and still be a good deal.

Pokemon was the only game shown with a "late 2025" release. It's probably that. It doesn't matter since we'll both be playing GTA6.

Personally, the cost of the console is near meaningless as it'll cost you mere pennies per hour used by the end.

“Statement from Nintendo: Pre-orders for Nintendo Switch 2 in the U.S. will not start April 9, 2025 in order to assess the potential impact of tariffs and evolving market conditions. Nintendo will update timing at a later date. The launch date of June 5, 2025 is unchanged.“
Yikes.
