I can't remember the last time they brought the funk like that
DUCK WALK TIME
what is that harsh grating fast tremolo on the guitar that appears once in a while? it's amazing
they sound passionate, I'm all in
my only real crit is that 3.30 wasn't long enough, PJ have recently got this bad habit of giving us 2 bars of good instrumental stuff (intro, solo, etc.) when there should be four, or even eight
I want this to be longer so bad too. I would have loved to hear just that instrumental part before the chorus that we had the snippet from.
I think that was in there? but it was either shorter in the song or felt longer when nothing was around it

Steal the light from my eyes
Steal the blood from my heart
In all of this dark matter
Take the … from my chest
We're losing count, dark matter
Denounce the demigods
King diamond to destroy
Deploy the dialogue
Your word against the lord
It’s strange these days
When everyone else pays for someone else’s mistake
Display ….
Till everyone else pays for someone else's mistake
Your rolling away
Your pulling apart
In all of this dark matter
I want you to sit and ……
Arrest….
No one knows what happened next
Denounce the demigods
King diamond to destroy
Deploy the dialogue
Your word against the lord
It’s strange these days
When everyone else pays for someone else’s mistake
Display ….
Till everyone else pays for someone else's mistake
No tolerance for intolerance
No patience left for impatience no more
No love lost for lost loves
No sorrow for the unaccountable
it’s strange these days, when everybody else pays for someone else’s mistake / this blame takes shape, still everybody else pays for someone else’s mistake.

Definitely feel like I’m listening to something from a foregone era with Ed’s voice. I think they were in great hands with Andrew. This is special. Buckle up. The single is never the best song. Can’t wait.

you know what else this reminded me of in the funk aspect? late Paramore, and probably because they're also influenced by Talking Heads a lot lately

I’m in the basement in the middle of listen #15 and my dog keeps staring at me like I’ve gone insane because of all the aggressive head bopping and fist pumping.

I can't get over how urgent the singing is- really everyone in the band has such agency in this track! I can see why Jeff said he couldn't be prouder. We are so lucky.

I like it a lot. That guitar solo at the end just rocks and hits all the right spots.
Gets catchier after a few more listens.
New Pearl jam, woo hoo!
Ok off to bed.
