why would that be hard to admit? we like a song that sounds like a type of song pearl jam has done really well?

Post-ST? Yes
Gigaton was the bar; I like this but it's not Gigaton, yet
Not for me. Great album upon release. Served its purpose at the perfect time, and fell quickly out of the rotation beyond that.
Has some great songs on it, but, the staying power wasn't there.
Back half loses too much steam.
I respect your opinion whilst... no, I respect your opinion
I love how chilled and nuanced it is

This is what they did for Gigaton, but no one cared because the whole album leaked on day four of the clips.

I expect it to be as good as Seven O’clock but then I don’t think much of Seven O’clock

I have this thing where I give full permission to any band to "copy themselves" if they were initially (in part) responsible for shaping the sound in the first place; I always said "sounds like Pearl Jam" was fine because I like Pearl Jam; I'd like to think I'm fairly consistent with this philosophy

Are you thinking of any song in particular because this sounds nothing like Petty to me. Someone said Springsteen and it seems closer to that. In any case, I’m just glad that it’s not a carbon copy of any other band tbh. I kinda like it so far and definitely want to hear the whole thing now.

Learning To Fly a bit. but its more of the idea of a petty song like Long Way was. Im sure it will unfold more with the full release.

I think 7 o clock has been described as the analog for Upper Hand (vs for Wreckage)

Catch me on a less chaotic day and I'm right there with you.
I'm probably not focused enough on being "in the moment" to get where I need to be for those songs, but, I've definitely had profound moments with them.
Anyway, yeah...Wreckage...I really appreciated your point about the 8th and 16th notes.
