It's always an interesting listen when it comes to familiar material tweaked in some way.
Be it rearranged, remixed, remastered, covered, mashuped, etc.

I don't see any of these tracks replacing any of the originals, but I enjoyed the listen.

I think something like 3 or (more likely) 3.5 seems about right to me. It's a significant step above some of my least favorite work by the band this century; I think it's ended up landing just above or around where S/T is in my rankings. I think that's probably pretty close to where it started; I only tend to go back to 4-5 songs from this with any regularity, but those 4-5 pop up often for me in listening to music.

This album is so weird. I think it's good, but also it sucks.

I'm not crazy about the production, but even though I saw this as a concept album at the time it was released, it hits the implications even harder now thanks to world/US events. A cautionary tale they refused to express explicitly.

This is a stereo mixdown of the 7.1 Dolby Atmos bluray version of Dark Matter (converted using Logic) that I found posted in a comment on redacted.sh last year. Some of you may have come across it there or elsewhere too.

It is light years ahead of the 'regular' stereo mix - better separation, more dynamic, and with some of the Wattish sheen taken off (though the drums still don't sound as good as they should).

Between this version and the Apple Dolby Atmos mix, I don't think I've actually listened to the 'original stereo' mix since it first came out. I just went back to it after reading the above comments and it hurt my ears - it sounds like a 90's MP3 downloaded from Napster :shake:

So enough is enough - download this version and never look back
I have found a BD 2024 TrueHD 24-48 8CH. It's better or same as 7.1 mix? both are Flac files but first one is 1,3GB vs 300MB

How do you listen to this? I'm listening to Scared of Fear and All I hear is Jeff and Matt and that is abso-fruitin-lootly not why I listen to Pearl Jam. It sounds like the Atmos version pretty much, which sounded so bad in my car that both my son and I thought something was broken. Like I imagine Jeff and Matt chloroforming everyone in the mixing booth and making this mix before they wake up while twirling their snidely whiplash staches.

Sorry, I'm pretty cranky today.

It also reminded me of the Atmos mix: more bass, some echo effects. But I don't recall the Atmos mix losing the guitars the way this one does, so I also haven't gone back to it.

Same - the 1.3GB one is the raw 8 channel (i.e. 7.1) rip that was used to create the 'stereo mixdown' version (300MB).
