I heard someone else talking about this, and since then I can’t stop thinking about it: it’s weird that Dr. King’s deposition is scheduled for a Saturday that’s also the Fourth of July, right? I feel like they should address that at some point. Can you imagine a group of lawyers willing to sit down for a boring meeting on a holiday weekend?

Shout out to Moshe Kasher for his 0.01-second cameo as the ASL interpreter.

What’s going on with the terminal cancer mom? Is she wanting to die in the ER or is there something weird happening at home?

Yeah, I think based on the convos this episode, it sounds like her pain has been worse than she’s letting on, and she just wants to go into a drug-induced fog and die peacefully instead of suffering at home.

People can be really weird about pain at end life. When I was editing reports for cancer patients, they would often ask the doctors “What if my 85-year-old grandma with stage IV cancer develops opioid dependency?” The doctors would basically say the same thing Dr. Robby said last episode but would often be less nice about it.

My father, who while a DDS was still a doctor and did MD adjacent studies due to the surgery part, was weirdly making a point how they were giving his 94 year old father opiates as he was on his way out.

I mean, hospice is basically pump you full of morphine around the clock til you expire. That’s what “do whatever to make them comfortable” is code for.
I guess all the weird glances is her trying to figure out how to get her husband to take the kids out of the room so she can get on with it, but he’s oblivious. Good call bringing in the ice cream promising grandparents.

I like the "leave me the fuck alone, family!" aspect of this storyline, too. Not something I've seen often on TV.

I like how flawed everyone is on the show. It's never too much, it's always believable and relatable (and often disappointing a visceral way).

You know what though, I might’ve snapped here too, considering she was surrounded by all of her coworkers who are also medical professionals and NONE OF THEM realized she was having a panic attack.

Is this still good?
You guys were all about that Yellowstone show which ended up being g*y cowboy Sons of Anarchy, so I am a little skeptical.
