Anyone else notice the nods to The Godfather in the premier? Lucky going to the can before the assassination. I expected him to get a gun from behind the can. And Nucky in Cuba commenting that the rebels might someday win, ala Michael Corleone in the Godfather 2?

For some reason I thought Capone had died last season. Glad I was wrong. Ticking time bomb that one.

The Capone headquarters scene was fantastic. So many moving parts.

I'm so excited that Joe Kennedy is a character on this now.

I'm enjoying it still, but this season does some like a step down in quality.
A lot of the writing seems contrived, from the older characters coming back (think Gillian and Narcisse) to the whole Kennedy thing. A lot of it seems like winks at history or winks to the shows past just for the sake of it.

This is my favorite show on TV right now (granted I don't watch much to begin with), but have to say I'm not digging what seems like a HUGE gap in the narratives since they've jumped 8 years into the future. I knew this going in, sure, but it just kind of feels like the show is trying to come to a screeching halt rather than tie-up loose ends naturally, if that makes any sense. I'm still really enjoying it though, just wish they could have at least cranked out 2 more years (seasons 5 and 6--full seasons too, not this 8-episode bullshit).

For example: when Kennedy orders a tonic and nucky had to clarify what he meant.

the guy playing joe kennedy is doing a great kevin costner impression, with his accent only sometimes.

But, she's famous for faking insanity and doing an undercover expose of conditions in mental institutions. So it fits with the Gillian storyline.

Kind of? He didn't build his family's empire by being nice to everyone.

This is moving pretty slowly for a show with only a few episodes left.
