I don't think anyone is arguing this isn't the case. But, like I said before, it's fodder for humor, especially because it's done in such a serious manner (and so much of the fan base is so serious about it).

The thing is, it's hard to blame them for the merch since most of the band wears other bands t-shirts regularly.

Yeah, but no one thinks them selling t-shirts is unusual or weird or funny. Maybe the designs are pretty funny (or bad), but some have been great and iconic and a neat little part of the band's history.

Also, Ed will probably have a role in the movie.
