People on all sides need to calm down. Spenno is totally right here - SG are probably only doing a few dates and Matt was already committed to touring with PJ.
Matt belongs in SG but he's been in PJ longer. It's a difficult situation and I'm sure it's been hard on his family. I hope he gets it settled out. I also think both bands will be less active in the future since they're all getting older and all have families.

I wonder how relevant the offer to play with Black Sabbath was to this whole deal - it reminds me of the early 2000s show Pearl Jam played supporting The Who but without Stone as he was in Australia on holiday/doing conservation work.
Obviously that's harder to do with a drummer, hence the need for a replacement.
Matt might've been available to Soundgarden had it only been the April shows in South America but, if the Sabbath shows fall right in the middle of when PJ already have commitments, it makes sense to have the stand-in guy ready now and for Matt to simply bow out for a while.
He did back-to-back Soundgarden/Pearl Jam tours in 2012 and I'm sure it was pretty rough on the guy.

To everyone that says Matt doesn't belong in PJ: he's been in the fucking band for 15 years. If you are still following them after all that time then just shut the hell up. Is anyone really surprised he picked Pearl Jam? Jesus.

ok, ok, ok time to calm down here. nothing has changed, its all gonna be OK. Matt is still PJ's drummer, that is still in tact. his credibility, largely based on his SG days, has taken a slight hit but this is just an overreaction and everything will be back to normal 2 years from now when soundgarden have recorded a new album with their new drummerimean matt is back with SG in the studio and everything's fine, everything's fine

I also like the suggestion to 'loosen up your snare drum' in order to sound more like Dave A., because 'as PJ's new permanent drummer, you will always be compared to dave A, and you can never fill his shoes'.
