I’m just glad I’ve been obsessively pirating music, TV and movies for the last decade for when Netflix and Hulu go down.

Send me a 3 TB hard drive and $1500 for all your entertainment needs.

there's a very real scenario not far off where hackers will be able to lock you out of your house, hacking your oven or fridge, which are all being integrated into wireless access...they want 9 or 10 devices per household online.....and the oven and fridge will have terrible protection, no firewall.....a real scenario exists where they break into your system by hacking your fridge....and lock you out of your own house. or burn it down.

You don't build something that is immortal and cannot be fixed.

So, of course they are doing just that.

How do they burn your house down? Is this some sort of incendiary fridge I've never heard of?

Just another argument against 'smart' appliances. Who needs them.

Yeah but an oven being on high doesn't start a fire. It just cooks things.

What a bunch of dickheads! It's interesting though to see that some individuals are worth way more than others. Some got like 14k, while others got upwards of 400k.

Welp.

My instinct is that the fear of this destroying the internet as we know it is greatly overblown, but the door has certainly been opened, so you never know.

I mean, if they're smart they implement changes gradually so every little step is seen as not that big of a deal until it's too late.
