That may have sounded facetious but I was just kidding about.

The most stubbornly single-minded Zeppelin album in the whole canon. There are others with better songs and greater range but this is always the one that calls my name. It's their raw essence.

I think about this Jim O'Rourke quote often:

"I'd rather listen to Led Zeppelin than some new rock band. I mean, seriously: what's the point? I can listen to a Led Zeppelin record 500 times and love it, and I really doubt anything I could hear now would be as good as that."

I know it's not their best but it's my favorite. Achilles Last Stand and For Your Life are great, not a big fan of Nobody's Fault but Mine. However, Candy Store Rock and Hots On For Nowehre just make the album for me. Beginning to end, this is Bonham's best album. It's tight, it's precise, it's powerful and yet some funk still manages to slip through.

Led Zeppelin's Robert Plant blasts reunion talk as 'going back to the same old s---'
May 9, 2014 - 10:20AM

Former Led Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant has heaped scorn on talk of the group reuniting, and took a swipe at other ageing rockers who go back on the road just to make money.

Plant, who played a one-off concert in 2007 with his former band mates in London, has long made his feelings clear about a getting back together, rebuffing overtures from lead guitarist Jimmy Page and bassist John Paul Jones.

He did not mince his words in an interview with Rolling Stone magazine promoting the release of earlier recordings by the band, which split up in 1980.

"You're going back to the same old s---," he told the magazine in a London interview.

"A tour would have been an absolute menagerie of vested interests and the very essence of everything that's s---y about about big-time stadium rock. We were surrounded by a circus of people that would have had our souls on the fire," he said.

"I'm not part of a jukebox," Plant declared.

Asked if he was not tempted by the huge fortunes that other ageing rockers make on tour, he said: "Good luck to them."

"I hope they're having a real riveting and wonderful late middle age," he sneered, without mentioning the any performers by name.

"Somehow I don't think they are."

Last week Led Zeppelin unveiled two previously unheard recordings ahead of the re-issue in June of the band's first three albums.

I respect Plant but I feel bad for Page. Seems to me that all Page ever wanted was to play music with Plant but Plant has no interest in playing with Page. Kinda sad.

Not a part of a jukebox, but 60-70% of his solo shows is Zeppelin material

Might as well add "and breathing".

their most academic offering

my only wish is that it had more of the production sound of physical graffitti ... the 'new album' tracks on physical graffitti have a jarring crunch and depth that sear and assault the listener as they sway along

presence has incredible structures and themes, but it is (willfully?) restrained in its accents ... a couple more knobs turned to 11 and it would pierce a hole through the hoover dam. instead its somewhere at 8.5.

it is an unstoppable algorithm that will dismantle you systematically from the inside out

but it could sear the listerner to an unrecognizable crisp if it really wanted to
