hot torrents usually won't give you a lot of upload because seedboxes get the most of it

the easiest way to build ratio is to either fill requests or use bandcamp to find free albums, download them in FLAC and upload them to what.cd, most 2013 stuff gets automatically snatched
if you have never uploaded anything, be sure to read the rules and the wikis to make sure you don't fuck up

what's your ratio? if you have downloaded less than 20 GB and seed everything you've downloaded your required ratio is... 0.00

My required ratio is .42 and im at .39 right now.

Strat, What is in the middle of a super-slow period, I think. I usually have 1000+ torrents seeding at all times (all of them my own, original uploads), and I only uploaded around 2GB in the past month (I average about 18-25 per month). So, yeah, listen to Heathen's advice and upload some albums (getting them for free on Bandcamp is a good idea, I think). Once you have something to upload (and make sure to get FLAC!), you should read Tutorials on What for 2 things: first, read about transcoding; second, read about uploading.

After you feel comfortable with those, transcode your FLAC to V0, V2, and 320. You'll now have it in four file types. Upload them either all at once, or do the MP3s on one day and then FLAC the next (I'd avoid uploading FLAC and "saving the rest for later"; someone else is bound to snatch the FLAC and do the transcoding for you). Even if you get 1-2 snatches per torrent, that's still 4-8 snatches worth of upload you can use to download whatever you want.

I didn't find any malware on my computer after falling for it, but I made sure to stop using the passwords I used when trying to log in.

What.cd seems to be in pretty dire straits, financially. I knew things had be rough since the time they had to stop using PayPal for donations, but the tone of the latest news update is pretty gloomy.
