I don't like S/K, but this is a great title for a record.

Finally, something negative about this album. It was starting to feel unbalanced.
Can't say that SOAD was an influence that I heard.

I'm as green as this blade
in the grass that bends
in the wind that blows
on the long weekends
where I cross the bridge
to the water fountains
and drink in the hope
that the city brings
Love these lyrics.

I think they really like the Saturday Market. And those are really great lyrics.

Light Rail Coyote is easily one of their top songs lyrically. Especially if you have ever lived in Portland.

For sure, not an influence as such - there's just something about the guitar patterns/tone and distorted vocals in the Fade that reminds me of something SOAD often does when switching from chorus to verse.
This album just gets better with every listen - Fangless might be their best pop song yet.

Annie Clark wrote:Sleater-Kinney, No Cities to Love: I've heard the whole album already and I have to say, I've loved so many Sleater-Kinney records but I think this is my favorite. Everybody's so on point. Corin's voice sounds so urgent and Carrie's guitar playing is super guttural and acrobatic, and Janet is just slaying the drum set. And then the songs themselves just have so much heart to them. I feel like this record is such a crowning jewel in their legacy. I first started listening to them when I bought All Hands on the Bad One when I was in high school. I remember trying to figure out all of the songs on it, but I couldn't figure out any of them! And later I learned it was because they tuned down to, like C sharp or something, so everything was just out of range. But I remember feeling so excited that people were giving a voice to this frustration and alienation that I felt. It's just powerful, heavy music.

I just might be. I don't think any single song is better than say Jumpers, but as an album NCTL is pretty much flawless.

There aren't many albums by anyone that are better than The Woods, so I'm mighty skeptical. I'll be waiting for the official release to listen, though.

Can't speak for VinylGuy but I'm probably just getting a bit carried away with the newness factor. This is a very different beast to The Woods (much more comparable to One Beat if anything) but at the very least it will probably be the best album you hear by anyone this year
