Oh.
Oh, I see.
Thanks for clearing up for me exactly what this movie is.

This will just be a dramatic retelling of Pinocchio. I'd bet a dollar on Tony Stark making a quip about Ultron being a real boy.

the synopsis is tony builds off of D.U.M.E. Tony realizes the avengers cannot be everywhere so he builds robots to help them (the avengers) out with there being a prime machine. this prime machine takes on the evolved form of Ultron. The mission directive is to help initially saving the world (floods, volcanos, snobby movie buffs who think they are above everyone else etc..) and ultron sees the only way to save the people of earth is to wipe them out because they will do nothing but harm themselves/the planet
Please tell me this isn't for real. Are they not going to introduce Hank Pym, Ultron's true creator?

nope, its true (to the extent i know) and tony is indeed the creator of ultron this time around. it would be too forced to hurry up and introduce pym and have him create ultron. im satisfied with their direction

It'll be much more satisfying to have ultron come from Stark. And it's not like he lacks flying automated robot street cred in the marvel universe

true and he is egotistical enough to create an A.I. that can evolve.

Look I enjoy the Marvel movies and I really enjoyed Avengers but does this feel like
padding to anyone else?
We already know Civil War is next. We know there's gonna be an Avengers 3. We know they're gonna face Thanos. We know this is probably gonna happen
- Spoiler: show

So other than the introduction of a couple new characters, this just feels like setting up more future events. This is the problem with these kinds of movies. You pretty much know the outcome, there's not much at stake. It's all a setup for another setup to set up another even bigger movie that will set up the next big event until the films aren't commercially viable anymore. Which has got to happen at some point in the next ten years.
I'll go watch this and I'm sure I'll be entertained by seeing these characters on the screen again. I'm sure I'll enjoy the hell out of myself. I know myself and I know that will happen. I'm wired that way. It's in my upbringing. I geek out at this shit in a big bad way. But to be entirely honest, I'm having a hard time getting super excited about Age of Ultron from the trailer.

That's probably all true if you read the comics or blogs or whatever. But I don't know what Thanos is. I don't know what Civil War is. I don't who or what Ultron really is. So, there's still a lot of suspense for me. Still a lot at stake. And certainly, most importantly, a tremendous element of surprise.

Yeah, this movies are very good because they are telling a story. A for a lot of people is a new one.

Well, Thanos was in the first Avengers and in Guardians of the Galaxy; Civil War was announced a few days ago as the plot for Cap 3. I feel like most people who are paying attention to the MCU stuff would be up to speed on these things.
I know that it's not all about the endgame but the execution, and knowing Whedon & company, I'm sure there's gonna be a lot to enjoy on Avengers 2. I'm just not really feeling it, for some reason.

Ant-Man is later in the year in July. Hank Pym is in it, but it focuses on Scott Lang and not Hank Pym. That said, Hank is in the movie and is played by Michael Douglas. It's entirely possible that Hank did invent the AI that Stark uses/adapts for Ultron but it's fan speculation at this point.

I can totally understand that.
I've read speculation on a Civil War plot forthcoming. But I never saw an official announcement, nor do I know what that plot details.
And I know Thanos was in the first Avengers (the credits or whatever?) but that because I'm unfamiliar with the character, having never read a comic with Thanos in it, it didn't mean much to me. I don't know what to expect from him in the context of the Marvel film universe.
Also, I didn't see Guardians of the Galaxy.
Also, I know I'm in the minority with all of this stuff. Most of the people paying for these films know what to expect and who the characters are an whatnot. I'm kinda the exception, probably.

nah most people don't know who any of these characters are. Even Iron Man was barely known to wider audiences before the movies.

I don't approach it that way. Being a comic book reader, you get used to one event leading to another, that's how the Marvel universe rolls. I enjoy each story arc and can't wait see them told on the big screen.
