There's also a black and white (maybe sepia in fact) indie horror/satanic movie that I saw the first (overlong) scene of on the internet several years ago for which I can't remember the name. It begins with someone wearing a mask, or a helmet and opening his belly with a knife or something and slowly pulling his guts out. I think that it's silent. Does it ring a bell to anyone? It traumatized me. Chances are I read about it on RM first.

I think I have to go with the Shining. It's a perfect horror flick. It's the gold standard in my book.

In October, I normally go on a scary movie kick, this year, I watched:

The Strangers
Halloween III
V/H/S
Triangle
The Mist
Frozen

The Strangers was pretty scary, I really enjoyed that one.

Halloween 3 kinda sucked, but I kinda liked it too. It was weird, and felt more like an X-Files show.

V/H/S sucked. Was really looking forward to this, and from reviews / word of mouth, I thought this would be great, but I was very disappointed. Not scary at all, pretty predictable, unlikable / uninteresting characters, etc...

Triangle. Not at all what I thought. If you haven't seen or heard of this movie, I'd recommend it. It's more of a mind bender than a horror flick.

The Mist. Not bad, interesting to see how people react when bunched together amid a crisis.

Frozen. This was pretty good. Just being stuck on a mountain like that is pretty terrifying. I would recommend this one too.

And you can't out run wild wolves with a sprained ankle. Everyone knows that.

I bet Liam Neeson could.

I once got really high and watched War of the World - it was absolutely horrifying. I think it was just how helpless everyone is in that movie.

Here's one you should all check out:

It's really well done. I can only imagine how scary it must have been in the 80s.

I really disliked the characters in this film - they all seemed to make horrible choices
