Yeah, everyone's disappointed in everything here and I get that, but this guy's a paradox... Greatest singer of all time? And he said IS, not used to be... HIS ABSOLUTE FAVORITE BAND!!!! Imagine the expectations from this guy... the pedestal he has put these aging rockers upon... I guess I've lowered my bar a little over the last decade or so.
and the CBS Orchestra carried the performance in monster form

Take some xanax pal.
You want me to say it, then fine: he's lost it. It kills me to say it, but he's chain-smoked his generational-level talent away.
And boo-hoo... "Expectations", now I should apologize for being a fan and expecting him to sing better than an amateur on kareoke night? There's no way you can tell me that Vedder performed up to his level of talent, unless he really is just physically unable to now... Which again, makes me sad. He's not THAT old.
I hate for my few posts here to be negative... But I needed to vent.

Vedder has such a knack for bringing a level of intimacy in his performances. Authenticity. I dont care that his voice is shot these days because there is that other element he has always been so good at. its endearing and infectious and playful. Someone who truly loves what they are doing. it rarely, if ever, feels detached.
So his vocal chords are shot. Fuck, listen to the way he screamed for 20 years. ITs amazing it took this long.

Perhaps my expectations have lowered in recent years but I skimmed through it and thought Ed sounded fine.
I'll agree with Strat too, Ed's looking alright for his age (if a little leathery).

I could never hear Betterman again and I'd be fine with it. It was a fair performance. Ed gets thrown if there's not a distinct down beat on the 1.
Where was Ricky Ramone?

sounds like mr vedder just sang his heart out a few night ago w/ the who. and he was kinda off time in the beginning, but i didnt think the performance was bad at all. it had a different feel w/ paul schafer's band, maybe he can teach boom that intro. depressing? no.

That was a great performance. Solid. I really liked how he let loose at the end, pure Eddie.

I pvr'd this episode and will wait to get home to check it out, but by RM standards this thread has me expecting a "return to form". Neat-o.
