My Filipino mother-in-law is in town this weekend and when she visits she always preps something new and interesting for us. Often the combos fall into this thread's purview, like the time she dusted some purple yams with coconut flakes and sugar.

Today it was jicama slices soaked in white rice vinegar. You can't eat just one.

Just dipped in. Cut the jicama, pool some vinegar at the bottom of the bowl. That way you get the crunch.

I’ve done almost the same thing with cucumber. Mix white vinegar with sugar then dip fresh cucumber slices in the mixture.

This was a staple side dish at my Grandma’s growing up. I want to say sour cream was also involved sometimes. Delicious.

Not sure where they came from, but we have a weirdly large amount of avocados in our house right now. Many of them are close to turning, so I've been putting them on my sandwich at lunch, Now, I like a good yellow mustard with my cold cuts, and at first I thought the taste wouldn't pair well with the avocados, but turns out yellow mustard and the avocado are pretty delicious together.

I don't think I've ever encountered a food context in which avocado didn't work for me

doug had an old man shit in his BMW. Ruddo just haphazardly putting avocados on things bc he has so many. RM has a lot of rich people.
