The band name has some weight to it, from a booking perspective. As little as people care about Stone Temple Pilots these days, even less people will care about The Deleo Brothers Band.verb_to_trust wrote:Does anybody really care enough to justify all this nonsense? I think all parties involved are vastly overestimating how much the music consuming public cares about a washed up rock band from the 90's.
yeah, but with Bennington on board they had the chance to make a new and successful band without having to use the STP moniker.theplatypus wrote:The band name has some weight to it, from a booking perspective. I agree with nearly all of this. I like your style, dude.Grungy Sea Ice wrote:Take A Load Off/Maver/Between the Lines/Samba Nova/ First Kiss on MArs (not classic STP but one of my favourite vocals and a few others off STP were so golden for me as a long time fan it was an emotional experience to hear it. Shangrilladeeda was the pits lyrically but had great music. Four is a little dry but Pruno/Glide/Atlanta/Church on Tuesday were great. Backing up, Shang. has one song I really like - Bi Polar Bear.
As for the early stuff, No Memory and some of Purple hold up but its fairly dated to my ears. Vatican Gift shop is one of the single greatest albums of my generation in my opinion, only Lady Picture is a duffer.
Vatican Gift Shop was a favourite of mine alsmost as soon as it came out. I even 'stole' the copy from the radio station I worked at to dub it to cassette.Grungy Sea Ice wrote:Take A Load Off/Maver/Between the Lines/Samba Nova/ First Kiss on MArs (not classic STP but one of my favourite vocals and a few others off STP were so golden for me as a long time fan it was an emotional experience to hear it. i heard it a couple times. it sounds like chester bennington trying to write and sing like weiland. its not bad musically, but listening to it i just cant help but think "scott weiland should be singing this".southp wrote:Apparently there's a new single out? No one is paying attention I guess.

He came out and said "I guess you want to hear some hits". They proceeded to play all the shitty songs and then when he butchered Mountain Song we left.
