Heard her talk about this on a podcast. Apparently being the bassist for the band wasn't the greatest experience. The manager was an asshole who kept trying to psych her out, they didn't pay her for several months of daily rehearsal (though I don't understand how this wasn't negotiated before the first session), and she didn't get along with one member of the band who thought she "smiled too much" on stage. She wouldn't say who, but it wasn't Black Francis. I like her.

Man these Eps are good. Really enjoying this delivery and the sonic treats. Magdalena is my fave of this one after a couple of listens.

i watched the documentary loudQUIETloud last week and now i'm worried about dave lovering being whacked out on pills when i see the band next month. does anyone know if he's gotten his act together?

yeah, that doc is from 2004...ten years ago. They sound awesome live.

This podcast is kind of a mess and it's basically just listening to a bunch of friends get drunk together, but the music is good. Kim Shattuck opens up quite a bit.

EP #2 is excellent. This releases are turning into their best work since...Doolittle?

Cheers for that. I've actually been listening to Nerdist every week since you posted a link ages ago on here. The "Honestly 2013" episode was pretty great and intense.

Yeah, this is Jonah Ray's spin-off podcast. Just a lot of relatively underground music and people making fun of each other. I like it, but it's a lot less smooth than Nerdist.

EP1 just started to catch me yesterday on my drive from work. I'm excited to listen to 2. As far as best since Dolittle? Did you not like their last two? The more I listen to them the less I want them to be the next Dolittle and the more I find brilliance, and more importantly actual enjoyment, in them.

Yeah, i love all of their albums.
Im sensing a lot of enjoyment in this songs...they sound fresh and at the same time, its the Pixies. It was weird maybe at first to not think of this EPs as a Frank Black solo outing, but they sound like a band doing music again.
I do miss Kim´s background vocals, i think theywere great as a good contrast to Charles´s voice.

Anyone in Boston not going to the Calvin Theatre show next week needs a kick.

EP2 is fantastic!
Really well recorded and mixed too. I've got it on full blast now on my stereo and it sounds great.

Wow Pitchfork seems to really hate new material from old bands. They gave EP2 only two points...
