I'm sure Nels is real proud of his new record but I bet he still prefers playing I Might with Pat Sansone instead.

It seems as though I haven't posted about this album before, but I've listened to it a lot in the last few months:

It's great! Played by Nels and a string quartet and composed by Douglas J. Cuomo, who I wasn't (knowingly) previously familiar with - but he's quite known for his TV work, including the theme music to Sex and the City (which I've always kind of liked).

New album out on Blue Note March 14. Lead track sounds good to me -- free and spacious.

yeah, new album is pretty awesome. I love when Nels goes a little crazy with his guitar at the middle of Surplus...sounds very Sonic Youth.
