He was my favorite part of the pilot. Is his story being treated as a focus, or a side-plot?

indeed, but even sober richie is a boring cliche of a character. while he's busy trying to stay clean, his underlings are doing cool stuff like discovering punk and disco. that's what the show should be.

I also think the show would benefit greatly from not trying so hard to take place in the real world. Having them open for the New York Dolls, fine. David Bowie and Robert Plant impersonators? Name dropping Freddy Mercury? It gets to feel very forced. Especially since they don't even get the rights to so many of the songs/bands they reference.
