That's one thing that really sucks about this case. Just like in the Adnan case. We're left with this weird thing just hanging in the air: if not him, who?

I don't believe Steve Avery killed Teresa Halbach. I don't think the police did, either. So a killer is still out there. Who really killed her? Is the crime already too far removed to find the truth?
I don't think SA did it either. I didn't like Mike Halbach's unwavering belief that SA did it. His press conferences really came off creepy. I didn't like that her voicemail was tampered with by her ex (thanks for the clarification).

I don't think the police were involved in the killing either. But, once the car was clearly discovered by Colburn (his reading off of the plate numbers), he had a disgustingly plausible reason to frame him.
Exactly.

I think the doc and moreso the defense showed that they were out to get Avery. Clearly that car was planted on the property. CLEARLY. There's a fucking hole in the vile of blood. Old evidence was tampered with by someone. It's outrageous.

I can understand Mike's need to believe Avery did it. I can imagine a situation where someone I love is murdered and I'm so desperate for closure that I'd be blinded and believe the authorities. I can see that. It's not as surprising to me as the rest of it.
Yeah, I can see what your saying. Maybe my general skepticism might be clouded over in a horrible situation like this. It is possible he did question their findings, but they just convinced him.

"Not one drop of blood in his trailer? Not one?"
"Nope. Doesn't matter. He brutally raped and killed her. And, cleaned it all up with bleach."

Why would Avery leave the car on his property when he has a crusher on the same property?

That what is insane about this. The way they painted the murder of her being tied up, tortured, raped and throat slit...

The guy was so meticulous that he could clean all the blood inside his apartment, not one trace, the garage, etc...

But then would just leave the key on the floor? The car on the property?

It makes 0 fucking sense.

I will say, IF Avery and Brandon somehow get out, I suggest moving of the county.

You see, I don't think it's that clear-cut. What I think is much more probable is that he conducted an illegal search of the property and then told the search party where to look.
I guess I don't know how probably cause works and all of that stuff. But that seems like a pretty small offense in the grand scheme. Maybe you're right. But then why weren't the volunteer searchers arrested or charged with being on the property unlawfully? And why was Avery arrested for being a felon in possession of a firearm instead of any number of other charges that related to the vehicle?

Especially since he had 5 days to do it. Just doesn't make any sense.

Also, shame on the reporters that covered this case as it happened. They failed miserably at their jobs.

Does Wisconsin not have appellate judges? Why were the same judges hearing the appeals?

I'm pretty sure someone else from the family (not SA) gave the search party permission to search the property, but never the police. And if there was an illegal search, anything they found probably would've been inadmissible at trial--meaning the car, the blood, and any other DNA in the vehicle. But who knows--the judge could've allowed it anyways.

Have we talked about that lawyer that basically screwed everything up for the kid? The one that was plotting all along for him to testify against SA?

To be fair, they never presented the bound, raped, sliced up scenario at SA's trial--because they had no evidence of it. They did try to make the jury swallow the garage clean-up, though, and apparently it worked.

Yeah, I posted about him a few days back. I have no fucking idea how Dassey didn't get a new trial after he and his investigator took the stand during his appeal.

I'm as outraged as anyone about the way this went down but I'm a little disturbed that some of you seem to have concluded Avery had nothing to do with this. Just because the prosecution didnt prove their case doesnt mean Avery was home reading the Bible or something that day.

Avery isn't smart enough or charismatic enough to pull off this crime or be part of some bigger conspiracy. he's a creep, he's a loser, he's uneducated....but that doesn't make him a murder. To much shady evidence, too many inconsistencies int he crime scene.....this guy is just not smart enough to pull it off.
