But their billing as a couple of regular guys just making some dirty blues will never sit right when the commercial aspirations are baked into the music and they’re advertising $10K watches.
They were on ...colbert report years ago....i think along with..the shins? or maybe spoon? or something. And they had a competition who could " sell out" more.

It was a funny bit. They aren't idiots. They have never hid the fact they wanted to make money and have commercial aspirations.

I think you are wrong about them, friend.

LDR certainly is a character. But I don't think it's fair to call her an uninteresting person outside of the persona. Nor do I think your take on why she's created the persona/what she's actually doing is accurate at all. But I suppose to all belongs in a different thread.

I don't really listen to The Strokes. Eddie Vedder seems to like them though. *shrugs*

I like this album as a whole.. it's not their best stuff.. it's different but not in an awful cheesy 80s way like the last one.. the 2nd half is really good specifically

Yall sleeping on this album. It's fucking great. Probably their most consistent and confident since Room On Fire. They're finally organically expanding their sound and NOT just tacking on throwback Strokes rockers this time around.

Eternal Summer, Not the Same Anymore, and Ode to the Mets are fucking fantastic.

Honestly the vocal performances on those last two songs make this a must listen.

I'm coming around rather quickly on this album.

The end of Mets is one of the only things I like here

The last three songs are especially great. I think the version of The Adults Are Talking falls a liiiiiiittle flat. Great vocals throughout. It's not Room on Fire but it's really good.
