Well, I hope it lives up to expectations. I'm experiencing a bit of PJ bootleg fatigue myself, I think -- there are times when I just can't get enough, and other times like now when I look at my music collection and think, "Good God, how much time, space, and money have I devoted to accumulating in some cases hundreds of virtually identical versions of these songs, just on the basis of them being played in slightly varying sequences?"

Ah. I can understand this.

I don't do that. I only buy shows I've been to. Or use my free coupons to download digit versions of shows with new/rare material. And even at that I don't listen to the live shows very often. I can't remember the last time I put on a bootleg.

As such, this is all the more exciting for me.

That would make a difference. I hope to be out of this funk by the time the '98 show comes out, 'cause that shit stirs my soul.

What other small spaces have they played recently?
None. Thats why im excited
Then how do you know they sound better in small spaces these days?
I dunno about these days, but when I saw them at Irving Plaza in '06, they crushed it. I'm willing to bet that they definitely feed off the energy much easier in those situations, plus it's so rare for them to do that they seemed much more excited.

Are you a 10C member? If so, log-in to PJ dot com. Got to 'My Account' and select 'My Subscription' from the drop-down menu. If you have any codes they'll be under the 'Your Bootleg Coupon Codes' header.

I am but I don't have the "My Subscription" listed under that drop down menu. I'm only a digital member. Maybe that's it.

This was a no hesitation purchase for me. I rarely listen to their regular bootlegs but this one feels very different.

One, they picked a unique setlist that is heavy on 'jams'. Life Wasted, Deep, half full, OTE are all nice guitar workouts where Stone and Mike are really playing off each other and Matt/Jeff are really going to work on moving the songs along as a thunderous force. Second, it's a short set, so I can see them going all out. Third, the whole direct to acetate thing seems really cool and I imagine it creates a different element of pressure and the whole thing seems so 'one time one time only'. Fourth, Jack White on OTE I'm sure will be a fun jam. Fifth, it's on vinyl and I don't have any bootlegs on vinyl and the fact that they made this show specifically for the purpose of people like me getting and putting it on the turntable feels like it's gonna be a cool experience. The packaging seems really cool and well put together too.

In a way, I feel like I just bought a ticket to a concert that I'm going to attend, w/ me being the only one in the audience.

I think Third Man and Ten Club are a great fit. Third Man reminds me alot of where PJ were in the mid-90s. I hope they keep in touch and keep collaborating, cool things would be bound to happen.

My biggest hope of this partnership is that 10C is using this as a learning exercise. How to do a vinyl/vault release properly. I would be much more interested in PJ vault releases if they were done on a quarterly or semi-annual subscription service with the same level of unique packaging, care, quality and adherence to schedule as TMR puts into theirs.

That would require an entire restructure of the 10c, or an outside agency, and I doubt the band wants to put forth the energy to do either :haha:

I mean, if you're nominating me to head up this new program, I'm more than game. Not sure how much I'd want to work with Ed on this stuff, but I bet Jeff would be pretty dope.
