Man oh man, this record. Its funny I started a new job about a month ago, and my commute is pretty crazy. I get the 520am train and on my first day I listened to Benji on the way in, it's heavy.

It took me awhile to really warm up to it, and I still think I perfer Leaves or Desertshore, but only because of Benji's sheer heft. This vintage of Kozelek is easily his best.

The Night Stalker is actually a really good read, especially if you like true crime.

Funny, I went and bought a cheap second-hand copy last night on eBay.

Decided to listen to some solo Koz today: if You Want Blood and White Christmas Live. I noticed this release in his wikipedia discog:

Mark Kozelek
Sings Christmas Carols
Release Date: November 4, 2014
(Caldo Verde Records)

All songs performed by Mark Kozelek November/December 2013
in San Francisco.

Christmas Time Is Here
Do You Hear What I Hear
2,000 Miles
O Come All Ye Faithful
O Christmas Tree
Away In A Manger
Silent Night
Hark The Herald Angels Sing
What Child Is This
I Believe In Father Christmas
God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen
O Little Town Of Bethlehem
The First Noel
The Christmas Song

In getting that info it seems he is playing a solo show in Newtown about an hour away from my house, small place... ended up picking up a front row seat a bit stage left. Cost of the ticket was $9.99 face with $15.01 as a renovations donation for the venue, $25 sounds A OK with me. I burned a copy of April along with Benji to put in the car CD changer for the next little while.

I hate Christmas music but this could actually be enjoyable.

It's a shame how small the vinyl pressing of Benji was.

I'm seeing SKM Thursday night in Portland, ME, might just have to make the drive to Newtown to see him solo on Saturday night, especially for that price. Be an interesting/heavy show I presume...

Not a big surprise. He's had several run-ins with audiences over the last few years. It pretty much fits his surly bastard image anyway, so...
