the two shows in chicago in 1994 are among the best pearl jam shows i have ever seen
I didn't rank it because I never heard it... till now. I'd say it's no better or worse than the Chicago '94 performance, but nowhere near as good as the others.
My favorite live PJ experience has always been Dallas '93... till last weekend!

I don't see how any version beats the studio cut, with all the vocal layers and such...
In your opinion, what makes the Regal Theater version better than Bridge '92 or Dallas '93?
It's a very stupid reason but ok. The reason why I like the Regal '94 version is the way Ed sings at the end of the song particularly the line "I'm right in front of you, I'm by your side"...,.idk y but it gets me every time

Iholdthepain wrote:Fuck it... I'll rank the Angels:
1. Studio version (obviously)
2. Dallas '93 (biased, yes... but totally badass!)
3. Bridge '92 (great pro-shot footage)
4. Ride '16 (Full band version; Unbelievable set and setting!)
5. Chicago '94 (Ed fucks up and runs out of steam at the end)
He runs out of steam on every version except the studio one. It's a very tough song to sing.
1. 1994 Regal
2. Studio
3. 92' bridge
4. 93' Dallas
5. 2016 Ride

I disagree with this. I'm not just talking about the final "I'm by your side"... If you pick it up from the "Mind is not a celestial state..." part, Ed gets pretty intense in the Bridge '92 and Dallas '93 versions, and just meanders through it in the Portland and Chicago versions, kinda like he's on queludes.
Diff'rent Strokes, though, I s'pose

Ok I see what you're saying, the 92' Bridge school version he loses it for a few sec after "please please think of me" but then it picks back up where as the 94' version he sings the ending softly...and that's y I love the 94' version...def different strokes etc. good discussion tho..
