a lot of republicans don't support the infrastructure bill apparently .... i expect the tax cut to go through... and for the repubs to peel back some of the newer era financial, energy, and other regulations... but other than that, i wonder if this band of flunkies will actually construct anything

Yea, I was thinking similarly: best case scenario is some legislative repeal, some long-lasting effects on the environment that are really, really bad, and enough egg on the collective face of the GOP to put an effective end to some of their baser political tendencies.

Nothing has any meaning anymore; we are all just sacks of flesh flying around on a rock that will one day get swallowed by the sun. Oops.

Sure there is, this happens frequently in the Australian system. The South Australian Liberal Party won the popular vote at our most recent state election by a margin of 53/47 but the Labor Party still formed government.
Plenty would argue that under the preferential voting system that result may very well represent the will of the people. Voters choose a party with no hope of winning as their first preference, partly as a protest vote, knowing full well that their vote will be passed down the chain to whichever of the two (Labor or Lib) they actually want to hold the seat. There's been quite a bit of analysis on how this is currently impacting Labors 1st preference votes more than the Libs as people are using the Greens in this way.

"You are the Vice President. You've always been the Vice President. I should know, Mike. I have always been here."
Since the election, the dozen or so Mexicans that live next door have vanished. Coincidence?
They seemed nice.
