No, no. The call and response in Corduroy is much more irritating.
Yeah that isn't really a sing along though. I'm talking about when they sing so loud along with certain songs, Betterman(live), Alive, etc.
This has got to be the most cynical fan site on the entire internet.
I love Pearl Jam so much
I don't *love* everything Pearl Jam does, but I wouldn't describe any of it as irritating to me.

As for recent live versions of Corduroy -- I dunno, I think the back-and-forth between band and audience is pretty powerful, especially with this band. Is it like they used to do it? No -- but who cares?
I didn't say the song was irritating. I said the crowd singing along to it is. There is a big difference.
What? The crowd singing along to a band they love and a song they've loved for decades? Lol. I guess.

Who decides when the house lights come up? There might not be a worse song choice in the catalog to be played with the house lights on.
They did this in 2006 and it just highlighted people leaving and was just overall distracting. Dark moody lightning fits this song and any other song would work better in this scenario! Very odd choice

They played it with the house lights up in Ft Worth, too.

This is a tough question to answer. One of the reasons I admire ATY so much is because it’s always had a Beatles feel but it’s never reminded me of a specific Beatles song.

Probably Carry that Weight

It also has a bit of I’ve Got a Feeling and I Want You with a nice touch of what John referred to as Paul’s “granny shit.”
You’re one of those that says Given to Fly is nothing like Going to California, aren’t you?
No I definitely hear the similarities there. Why do you ask?

I believe the house lights were up after they murdered All Along the Watchtower at the Garden in '08.

The two of you that voted 3 stars should be ashamed of yourselves.

I balanced things out with a 4 star vote.

This was definitely the most important song in the world to twelve year old me.

It's gotten way less relevant over the years. But it's still a banger.

5 stars

I haven’t voted yet. 2 isn’t out of the question but neither is 5. I just don’t know with this song

Seems so bizarre to me for a 12 year old to be that into music like this. My son is 11 and he likes anime and video games. Zero interest in music.

Seems bizarre to me that someone would refer to Indifference as a “banger” but maybe I don’t really know what that means.

Introducing Pearl Jam albums to my girlfriend and she had such an interesting (perhaps obvious) take on this song I never really noticed.

But the song in general, and especially the "I will scream my lungs out til it fills this room" line is such an interesting message coming after such an angry, aggressive album...as if after yelling into the void about his discontent about the world, about injustice, abuse, power differences, and all that bothers him, now Eddie is just reflecting on how none of his yelling actually makes a difference and he wonders if he can even change anything at all. It makes such a great coda to Vs, adding a melancholy weariness to the angry messages throughout. I never reflected on how the song itself is a little coda almost to the tone of the whole album, and that Vs itself is his screaming his lungs out, and the last song is him reflecting wearily on how little difference it can make.

Made me love the song even more....and strengthens the album (I KNOW THIS IS OBVIOUS BUT I GENUINELY NEVER NOTICED BEFORE)

My wife would have no patience for introductions to Pearl Jam albums. Instead, she sort of knows it all through years of concerts, driving in the car, etc.
