This can't possibly be your actual opinion.

This is just the beginning.
I haven't turned this album off since it leaked.

Thanks for this. I'm not goin to read the lyrics as I know I'll be disappointed in how weak they are, never a Homme strong point.
I've heard a lot worse, lyric-wise. Especially from rock bands.
I think his lyrics are quite decent given the themes he usually works with. He never sounds clichéd even though the topics might be.
I relented. They're alright. A bit
"woe me, I'm an artist. I had an operation and shit happened". But yeah they're not too bad.
Name me a rock artist that doesn't write like this.
Absolutely but I'd prefer a bit more depth than "I'm alive, hooray". It's those moments that make me cringe a little.
And in the past I used to love wallowing but I'm a bit over it now.
Well, the "I'm alive, Hooray" is meant to be sarcastic. The next line is "You're wrong again, because I feel no love"
Yep. That's pretty hard to miss I would've thought. The dangers of pulling a few words out of context. If you were a Christian, you'd be a gay basher, LetMeSleep.

Very obvious. One of my favorite moments on the record.

Vampire of Time and Memory really stops this album in it's tracks. I agree with Josh, who wants to listen to this song? Jeez. This is a good album by most band's standards, but for Queens I'm having a little trouble. Kalopsia is decent but the payoff hasn't sunk me yet, and Like Clockwork the song is pretty good but not great. I'll always love the Queens though......

Sad day.

That Vampyre song really is terrible, Josh's first instinct was right.

I think you might be taking what Homme said a little too literally there.

I don't get all this hate. Vampyre is one of my favorite songs on the album.

Dudes have something against honest lyrics, dirty synths, a pretty terrific guitar solo and one of the best drum fills heard on a Queens record for some reason.
HARD TO FATHOM

I think it would probably be less divisive if it wasn't so close to the front of the album.
It was a ballsy move, but I think it's placement works well thematically for the record as a whole (and sets up a nice transition into 'Tail

).

Vampyre took me a tad to get into, but I really love the song and totally dig the irreverent candor. It's almost like Josh is poking fun at himself for asking you to give a shit. He is completely aware of his self loathing.
Kalopsia is the only song I struggle with. I know some people have criticized Josh for dominating this record when he had all these awesome guest vocalists as his disposal, but he totally fucking lays it down and this one swims sideways for me when Trent comes in. A decent song, but I love to hear it end.

Yeah, I don't get this objection either. There have been assloads of amazing albums with weirdo sequencing: Battle of Evermore, Fell On Black Days, Modern Man, Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds, Stop Breathin', Nude, Femme Fatale, Radio Cure…the list of great albums with great tunes at track three goes on and on. So why is there this compulsion from (RM?) listeners to want all the RAWK right up front?

I think vamprye is the best track on the album, I just think the whole album needs to be retracked. This maybe there best record to Songs for the deaf.
