Watched the pilots to The Wire & Oz last night. They're all available on HBO On Demand & I think I'm going to make way through each series as I didn't watch either while they were running.

My wife watches the show Tia & Tamera. Out of all the shows that have no right to exist, this one has the least.

Zooey's pregnant so part of the fun on watching New Girl the rest of the season is seeing how they hide her.

The sitcom Sirens on USA is really funny. In the second season now. Good stuff.

I thought it was hit-and-miss. Lots of technical mistakes, which was weird. Bradley Cooper and Bill Murray were hilarious, and Miley's and Kanye's performances were both killer.

Every time they tried to insert the new cast members it was just painful. Let it go already.

The montages served their purpose--warm, fuzzy feelings and a few laughs remembering the old sketches. But, man, any sketch or intro that relied on rehashing catch-phrases (the opening musical number, most of Jeopardy [but not all], some of the impressions on Update) were groaners. Didn't watch the musical numbers. Sad that technical issues popped up during what may have been my favorite moment of the night (Seinfeld-David--it's incredible how easy it is for them to rehash their chemistry at the drop of a hat). LVP was definitely Taylor Swift...wow...just, wow.

The Lovitz inclusion in that montage and the quick Cosby gag were two of the best moments.

Post-script for SNL 40: if you haven't read Norm MacDonald's recounting of writing for the special, it's totally worth your time: http://theconcourse.deadspin.com/norm-m ... 1686686768
Celebrity Jeopardy was about hope. It was about the hope of one man, Alex Trebek, the hope that never died. The audacious hope that never let the facts of the past interfere. It was a rhythm piece, as each disaster was signaled by the sound of a buzzer, and each new category signified more, new, hope
