I wouldn't take what Michael Shannon says to necessarily be the truth. He also said this in the full interview: “Well, I haven’t seen the trailer either, so I don’t know what I am in the trailer,” he said. “I could be a toaster, or a Porsche, I don’t know.”

It makes sense to think that he is becoming Doomsday. I dont think its a bad idea either. I mean, this is Snyder view of the whole dc universe, just like Nolan made Bane the love interest of Talia.

There isn’t a storyline in existence that takes “Zod is back, plus flipper hands” and makes it less wacko weirdo bananas.

It’s sort of like saying, “I was pooping into my own hands and rubbing it on my face the other day, because…” and thinking your ‘because’ will make you sound sane. It’s already too late.

This movie does seem to have crossed the point of becoming abstract art, though. So that's crazy exciting.
