I think the bigger issue is the teams/matchups we get for Thursday nights. The "best" or most compelling games are booked for Sunday and Monday nights. Unless your team is playing, Thursday is an afterthought. I'm a junkie, so I watch, but I can understand most people not wanting to watch Tennessee playing Houston etc...

How permanent is the deal that the NFL cedes Labor Day weekend to the NCAA? Moving the season opener back a week and adding a second bye week in conjunction with having one of those byes tied to a Thursday night game seems like a relatively simple solution.

Harbaugh needs to have his right to propose rule changes taken away.

Nah, that would take away from some of the great matchups that have come to fill that opening college football weekend.

Agreed, except I'd move it the other way. Hell, maybe even start the season a week later, and then play the Super Bowl on the Sunday before Presidents Day right in the middle of a three day weekend. That will also allow them to play more Saturday games during the regular season so as not to run astray of federal law on that subject.

I do want to see some way for teams to score 4 points on one play/possession, though, as it's so common of a margin. My longstanding fun thought is to make FGs that are 50+ or 55+ worth 4 points.

I'm a Dolphins fan. I say run the season from May to September.

I fully expect Dallas to win tonight. But man it'd be nice if the Vikes could just smack them in the mouth and take them down a peg.

I was a big 49er fan as a little kid (Joe Montana and Jerry Rice ) before moving to KC. So, yeah, I hate the Cowboys. Also, I have an Aunt who is a terribly soar winner and she's a huge Cowboys fan. So, while I've let go of a lot of my dislike for them over the years, there is still some residual feeling, and I love seeing them lose just to watch her lose her shit.

Interesting to hear this from a Pats fan standpoint since I can't think of any direct conflicts between the two. My dad was a 49ers fan and as Joey said, that's easy to explain the hatred. I do know how generally obnoxious those 90s teams were, though.

Collinsworth's biggest flaw is excessive usage of superlatives. When he called OBJ's first famous one handed catch he said "That is impossible, what he just did". Uh, no, you just saw that happen, thus by definition it's not impossible.
