Its kind of the same as God's Dice for me....it does move around but it always ends up back banging on the same place.
You mean like...a song?
No I mean literally banging on the same NOTE not the same phrase

And while nothing as it seems builds a little to the ending, what song builds like Black, like Corduroy, like Elderly Woman, like Release, like Better Man, like Alive....what song has a middle section as good as the middles of Even Flow, Once...
Im listening to Daughter....what song on these albums comes CLOSE to the amount that song throws at you?
How can you the miniscule changes that comes to Nothing as it Seems as it progresses to something like Daughter which throws a ton of curveballs at you
Even the first 30 seconds of daughter are more exciting than the majority of this album and what it does with the music.

Keep hammering. You're missing the nail, but keep hammering.

And the other thing with Daughter is how naturally it progresses, its so well made.
You change the chords in the middle and you're like "This is kind of interesting" but unlike NAIS and light Years it does it for a very short amount of time, not on and on. And it doesn't go back to the chorus again, it goes to a bridge, where Eddie's vocals soar, it seamlessly transitions into a beautiful transcendent guitar solo and then falls just as seamlessly back into a stripped down chorus. I listen like O_O 'damn' .
Its easy to forget how good this song is. The way it just naturally transitions out of the solo into that chorus is masterful. And then it builds itself back up.
There's nothing on these albums like that.

Binaural and Riot Act have way more chord changes than ten.
Not that the amount of chord changes have any correlation with the quality of the music

I don't think its just LITERALLY chord changes, but more that most of the riffs used to be interesting, while now they literally are just playing chords over and over again, and those chords generally do not change much. The guitars moved more in the earlier albums. I mean Even Flow isnt changing the actual chords but its also not going DUNDUNDUNDUNDUNDUNDUNDUN on the chords, the drums and the guitars are creating something interesting and groovy, a space to inhabit for Eddie. The riff is very memorable and cool, not just banging on a power chord repeatedly.

I don't mind it on a couple songs. I like MFC. But that resolves it by going to that awesome main riff. I cant think of any pre-Binaural songs that really do it...Lukin does but Lukin is like 50 seconds long and the percussion session elevates it.

Honestly it wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't the same in 80 percent of the songs on that album
If you cut binaural in half I might like it more.

Also tremor Christ again goes through many more changes and dynamics through the song than any of these other ones and the tempo and punctuation at which they hit the chords is unique as is the interplay with the drums.
