I love Star Wars. I saw this twice in the cinema, I’m posting about it and watching documentaries about it months afterwards, and I’m still waiting for my 4k physical copy, to watch it again. Says something when that is a movie I see more flaws than strenghts with.

There’s definitely a few should have stayed. luke mourning han.
Luke mourning Han is pretty irrelevant. We get that entire cut scene in Mark's in film line delivery, "Where's Han." It's far more potent without the cut scene, which adds nothing, ultimately.
I do think Rey protecting the Caretakers should have stayed, though. And I really like the alternate Fin v Phasma fight.

Ten minutes left of the documentary now. It's been a bit slow the last fifteen minutes, but still does a good job of telling its story, showing different parts of the filmmaking. Would like to have seen more of Driver and Hamill.

I read the scene as reminder of his connection with Leia just as much as mourning Han.

Oh yeah, totally. The transition to Leia (which ultimately changed and resulted in the scene being cut) is the best part of it. But again, we get that in the film proper, so it becomes redundant and unnecessary and cutable.

The confirmation bias is with you, young Anders
You’re also ignoring context but ok. If you insist.
