It was pretty good. I think "incredible" is a bit of a stretch.

1. It's too damn dark. I know this was a deliberate choice, but I think they went overboard.

2. The Dothraki suiciding at the start was dumb as hell.

3. The plot armor on some of these characters was ridiculous. We saw how overwhelming the horde could be, but there's a stretch in the courtyard where Brianne and co. held the line for an absurdly long time. Why did the wights ease up once the walls were breached? They were surrounded but plot-armored their way through unscathed. Also, they weren't wearing helmets. Stupid.

I understand how spergy that last point sounds, but it's true.

It makes no sense from a strategic standpoint, but it was beautiful to watch (if you have a decent TV with a quality streaming service).

the shot(s) of all the dothraki torches going out..and all their battle cries silenced...that was inevitable. you knew they were all gonna die and quickly, but beautifully done too

I’m through episode 4. Among my major quibbles during the original airings was how little setup there seemed to be for Dany losing it. I gotta say, there are plenty of reasonable, logical breadcrumbs apparent upon a rewatch.

I’m very curious to see how I’ll react to the Bran election this time around. Perhaps I will let D&D out of media jail…

Another major quibble was Bran doing jackshit during the Battle of Winterfell. In actuality, he clearly states his role is as bait to lure the Night King in. Good job, Bran.

Watch it again on Max.

The cavalry approach had pretty great succcess smashing the Lannisters in season 7. They had no idea there’d be a 12-foot tall sea of surging wights greeting them at the tree line.

Tormund, Sam, Brienne and Pod absolutely should’ve died. (I’ll couch this by saying I wouldn’t want to have missed Tormund’s antics at the victory feast). Brienne giving her life for Jaime would have been a great choice.

Fair. I should do that.

I was kind of expecting this to happen. The stakes didn't feel as high once I realized their whole crew was invulnerable.

As soon as they ran out of source material, the show focused a lot on doing things that theoretically are cool or shocking without any real motivation behind it. But, Dany’s heel turn was being told since her assassination attempt with the poison wine.

They really needed to come up with a better story than Bran has the best story; he’s a greenseer and a warg with a demeanor ruled by logic, the greater good, and a touch of autism.

Just finished. The election scene remains a piece of flaming doo-doo butter. Aside from that mess, the season was better upon this latest viewing. More than anything else, Dany’s descent into madness was improved upon this rewatch. It did not feel like it came out of nowhere.

A lot of things suffer due to the limited episode count, Cersei chief among them. She’s barely a character in the final season.

FINISH THE DAMN BOOKS, GEORGE

Disagree. This was a fun ride that gave us an ending. We might not have liked it, but it didn’t ruin the journey at all. I feel the exact opposite about Lost. That felt like a massive betrayal after season 3’s finale.
If a car you're in drives off a cliff and explodes in flames at the end of the journey, would you relive it all again?
I loved this show. What’s wrong with you.
I did, too. Then season 7 and 8 happened.
This Ensign guy needs to calm down and lighten up.

If you rewatch the whole series, it’s there all along. She was only ever gonna go that way.
But you’d have to be blind not to see it in the final two seasons
