I only meant the last few posts really.

Sorta frustrating knowing that if people saw the Director and the Jedi it would go a long way to reframing TLJ for them. If not, elevating it. *but they’ll never see it.

I thought it was a really solid and interesting documentary, but don't see why it would affect what people think of TLJ.

It’s just occurred to me that the art of the last Jedi read far more like one of the making of Star Wars books than an art book.
It’s almost day by day in some cases. Might give it another read through with the director and Jedi in mind.

I dont know. Learning about the process, the directors ideas and visions and the Why to it all can shed some light on certain things you may not have appreciated it. Can bring an entirely new viewpoint or at least an understanding and respect to the film. Perhaps, also, make you see things in a new light.

Can you imagine seeing the documentary, and then going from loving the movie, to loathing it? I'm pretty sure the answer is no.

What I loved about the documentary, was the emotional scenes with the actors, especially with Mark (Luke). But I also got a better opinion of Rian Johnson. Because he has often come across as a bit arrogant, but in this documentary he was mostly just a passionate guy.

Something I never considered. Everything to do with Luke in TLJ, were supposed to be seeing him through Reys eyes, that’s why he seems so dismissive and reluctant. This is why the mourning Han scene was cut and the caretaker party scene.

I totally get that but I think both scenes should have been left in for exactly that reason. We’d get to see luke is still luke Nd the full realisation of what him walking away has done meaning the loss of Han at bens hands, but also see him still able to laugh and have a more human moment of Luke that we knew as he’s laughing at playing a gag on her.

But decisions were probably the right decisions to be made.

I agree with both things, but the laughing scene would probably need to be remade/reshot, as it came across rather poorly. The mourning Han scene though was brief and beautiful.

I could go the rest of my life without seeing this or another Star Wars again. Way too much hype.

It was watching the film again that made me appreciate it more. The doc is an amazing doc and it helps me appreciate the level of talent, passion, craftsmanship, and creativity that goes into every aspect of making a movie like TLJ.

I mean, I hope the same level of talent, passion, creativity, and craftsmanship goes into every movie. But I don't think that's the case. The doc does add to my appreciation for all film making, yes. But more specifically this film. Still, that doesn't really have anything to do with the level of quality of the doc itself.

Like a bad Pearl Jam album... sounds really disappointing at first, listen to it a few more times, learn to appreciate it for what it is... some people convince themselves it's actually good...

Well, again, I loved The Last Jedi after first viewing. It just took this third viewing for me to rank it #2.
