I'm not hearing any left turns I have to kinda sorta convince myself are the right choice, which is what's pushing this way above Gigaton for me. I'm thinking of things like the boring 7 O'Clock chorus that brings it crashing to a halt, or the transition from the really interesting intro on Alright to the (lesser) verse.

I’ve listened once. It’s too early to say much, but two songs really got me:

1) Upper Hand. The way he sings that chorus. I said out loud, “God, I still love this man.”
2) Waiting for Stevie. I hear Breath. I’m certain that’s probably been said already. How could it not? My eyes welled up. This song felt like the ghost of my best friend from high school walked into the room and smiled.

I’m sure some also said Wreckage sounds a bit like Let Me Sleep because it sure does. And Upper Hand has got some NAIS in its bones. There is familiarity all over this record. It’s the Force Awakens. There’s loads of fan service, but I walked out of that smiling like an idiot all three times.

Something Special is so fucking hokey and so absolutely beautiful for what it is. I’d rather it was on a soundtrack or compilation, but I’d rather it was here than not have it at all. Ved bod is cute. And if we can forgive Soon Forget on Binaural, we can forgive this.

Just listened to the Kyle Meredith interview with Stone. Stone’s ready to get back in the studio and knock out a couple more songs. Too early to start the album #13 thread?

Also sounds like Watt would be the producer. And if it gets the band to put an album out in less than 4 years and achieve similar results to DM, sign me up

'dark matter' reminds me more of gigaton than anything. if 'running' was on 'backspacer' it would have been one of the best songs, but it's the 3rd of 3 in this bunch. 'wreckage' reminds me of 'into the wild' if pearl jam played on it. i'm sure it will get tom petty comparisons. i've only heard it a few times, but i'd but it #2 out of these 3.

i also listened to 'quick escape' and 'dotc' right after these 3 new songs. these are my two favorite on gigaton, so the 3 new ones still aren't living up to those 2.
Warehouse, I have a feeling you are really going to dig this record.
 i'd love to find out asap lol

is everyone listening to phone recordings from the theater thing? is this worth hunting down or should i just wait at this point?

Also I have gotten through about 5 songs, are there any odd time signatures on this, so far SOF, DM, R/R, Wreckage and Won’t tell, all 4/4. Interesting for an album sold as MC having such an impact.

Haven’t closely listened since to all the songs, so maybe there is something in there

If it is a first listen, I would hold out. I restrained myself from listening to leaks until after the theater experience and was glad I did. So much you can't take in with the leaks.

I have to sheepishly add myself to the list of people asking for a link. Thanks in advance for anyone who can help out.

Edit: Got it. Thank you!

The rest aren't doing a great deal for me, the whole back half of the record feels like a bit of a slog currently.
thats not a complete surprise - they aren’t really playing your favorite parts of the sandbox

Listen again closely to the something special snippet and you’ll hear it:

“With every setback now, a chance to grow
Further proof, you’re fucking phenomenal
You better believe it you cunt that you’re something special
Woooooaaahh ooooohhh”
So this wasn’t real?
