Re: NBA Thread
The timing for MVP announcement is really smart. I'm, like, SUPER interested at this point to see which guy whose team got eliminated 2 months ago wins.

Yeah, the awards show should either not exist or be in that week before the Finals.Bammer wrote:The timing for MVP announcement is really smart. I'm, like, SUPER interested at this point to see which guy whose team got eliminated 2 months ago wins.

Butler pushing for a trade to the Cavs.
I can barely see the Cavs having enough to possibly get George, I don't see them being able to outbid other teams for Butler.

Yeah, there'd have to be. Suns/T Wolves/Nuggets. But still. I think PG is much more likely to be in their price range than Butler.E.H. Ruddock wrote:Isn't there talk of a third team getting involved?4/5 wrote:Butler pushing for a trade to the Cavs.

Re: NBA Thread
The Griffin departure shows that Cleveland last year won in spite of their owner. I hope more people around town come to realize what a dirtbag Dan Gilbert is (and yet still not the worst human being to to own a team in Cleveland).
He loves Chauncey because he's a Detroit guy. Of course.
If Griffin was working on a Butler trade and there was a disagreement about the direction the franchise was heading, then maybe it signals they won't trade Love.
I'd do anything to dump Shumpert on someone at this point.

Baseless speculation alert: one of the talking heads on Bleacher Report was saying that Griffin told teams Kyrie was off limits, so maybe it signals the opposite: that both Love and Kyrie are potentially available.Joesanity wrote: If Griffin was working on a Butler trade and there was a disagreement about the direction the franchise was heading, then maybe it signals they won't trade Love.
If it were anybody but Dan Gilbert I'd reject this out of hand, but you never know with that guy. Still, that seems quite unlikely.

D Wade says he's not overpaid. A 25 year old with his same stats would get $150 million.

I'm really not sure. The fact is he wasn't playing for the Hawks in the 4th quarter of playoff games. I think the overall plan was to bring back Horford and try to move Al to Forward, let Howard just play defense and get rebounds with his back to the basket, obviously they lost Al to FA then paid Bazemore, and now Dwight is talking about beefing up his 3pt game. The Hawks have made some serious errors or had classic bad luck effect them over the last few years. So they traded an awful contract in Howard for quite possibly a worse one in Miles Plumlee to save 10 million or so dollars. Maybe Plumlee fits more what Budenholzer wants to do but given where they are I imagine money 1st and fit/options second are why they made this trade.
I like it simply because they have a new GM, and job one is to get rid of bad contracts and or money to provide options.
