Was it funny b/c people don't send their kids to school during a pandemic, but they still eat food?
Or was it funny b/c stupid homeschool parents are now heading into predominantly black neighborhoods to gentrify Popeyes?
Are you being intentionally obtuse? It's mocking people who fear sending their kids to school for fear of contacting Covid but are more than happy to line up and risk getting Covid for takeout food. Choosing convenience over safety but then freaking out about school.

I have a hard time mustering the energy to defend it only because it wasn't that funny to begin with. My first instinct would be to call you goddamn idiots, but I can see how many would be primed to see racism in the image (because they've been primed to see racism in everything). I think there are a couple of extra layers of irony in that one, though. Mostly I think it's just nonsense.
I'm just gonna let this battle go for all our sakes.

The amount of racism you saw in that meme directly correlates with the amount of racism you carry in your soul.
OR
The meme is racist and if you do not see that, it is because you are oblivious to the society you live in and the harm you cause others.
I see both sides, but I suppose I'd tend toward agreeing with 1 in this instance. I didn't see it as racist, but maybe that is because I am oblivious. Everyone likes chicken and neglects their children. But that's also a racist stereotype. It's times like these that I'm glad I'm not a mod

I went and looked up the meme in question, and if you see racism in that, I've got some bad news for you...

Can someone re-post said [alleged] offending meme? I shall be the sole arbiter of whether or not such meme is racist. K thanks.

Is there a way to eat that doesn't risk COVID? Is the line at Popeye's more risky than the line at McDonalds? Is that why it is funny?

Just do a Google image search for
popeyes conferences and brace yourself for the most offensive non-racism you’ve ever seen.

It probably relates to the attention Popeyes received when they released their new sandwich last year. Many instances of patrons fighting with the staff and each other. There was a bit of an obsessive quality about their famed sandwich and shortages of it.

It's only racist if you actively want it to be

Drive thru dining carries an additional risk as compared to just getting groceries delivered and making your own meals.
Popeyes is not riskier than McDonalds but the mem is also riffing on the fact that people desire for Popeyes chicken sandwiches have been known to get people killed in the past.

Isn't that a pre-Covid meme?
It doesn't make sense with Covid, unless it's implying all the parents are logging into the ZOOM conference while waiting for food.

Reminds me of the brutal Popeyes/Chick-fil-a Twitter wars of 2019. A dark time in our nation's history.
