I'm in agreement here. I'll probably dig this more live. But who knows til it happens.

They do seem to have mastered the art of neutering awesomeness in the studio.

Which seems so strange, considering their history. It's like they have collective amnesia about their prior albums.

So if Eddie doesn't drop the ball vocally and lyrically, and the mastering doesn't sound like ass we'll be golden.

The guitar tone on what I think is a solo sounds pretty clean, so so much for my guitar fuzzzzzzzz.

Did you see it live? Like God's Dice and Save You, after I saw it live my entire feeling on the song changed.
it kinda blows live. for some reason they've been saving it for encores when ed's voice is gone. it should be like the 2nd song played.
The last time I saw it was 2006 so.....

It's a top 20 song for me. Quite possibly a top 10. One of my two favorites from the last decade.

But hey, that's just my shitty tastes

Stip, we need you here. That's all I'm saying. Your optimism is an inspiration.

I think it depends on what you think is dropping the ball vocally. For these shouty songs I've never been one to say Ed's 'lost it', like others have. I don't care what he sounds like screaming down a mic, whether he runs out of breath or whatever. I'm only really bothered about him singing well.

I need Eddie not to sound like complete shit. He sounds crappy on s/t but he sounded fine to me on the faster stuff on backspacer so I should be ok.

unless he's applying that sheen to his voice (supersonic, unemployable, ole, maybe big wave) I love how he sounds on those shredding songs these days. Like a survivor.

I listened to S/T last night. I think the engineering crew had more to do with him sounding bad.

I absolutely love Comatose live.

But like stip, apparently I have crappy tastes. After all I'm so into everything "Get Right" it's sickening.
