Eddie Vedder - Earthling

When a band is but a fraction of Pearl Jam, but they aren't zero Pearl Jam.

Well it all depends on how and why you give credit to someone during song writing. Maybe Chad offered up a different word. Who knows. Maybe it’s Ed spreading the money around kindly. You never know

I'm pretty sure it's a composer/lyricist credit. And when the liner notes come out it'll be Music: four names, Words:Vedder

Hmmmm.

Personally, I'm really feeling the chorus.
I'm with you on this.

Probably in the minority, but i'd be very ok with this release being more on the "pop/glossy" side. I have no issue with that as long as its done well!
Same.

Super interesting to hear him make rock music (and collaborate with his band members) outside of Pearl Jam.

I have not been following this. Does Eddie Vedder have a new album out? If so, it sucks right?

Still can’t place it, but something about the guitar tone is very 80s and makes me think of some song but I don’t know what it is.

So I got Brother the Cloud initially as the best but like a B+ and I am sticking with that. It is good, I like it a lot, but it sort of sonically sounds like vanilla post-RA mid tempo rock song with a very chilling bit direct message to his brother. If the rest has this level of quality, I will like this album more than I expected, but it won’t probably rate close to the 11 Pearl Jam albums.

I like, to some degree or another, each of these songs. But I don’t like the lyrics in any of them.

Long Way / Haves / Brother the Cloud feels a bit like a set of Pearl Jam side events: a Tom Petty tribute album contribution, an awkward and heavy-handed charity song, and a b-side.

The chorus makes me think of Surrender by Cheap Trick.
Guitar tone reminds me of Poison maybe Talk Dirty To Me. The verses musically remind me of The Band Television. I also hear a nod to Chris coming out of the bridge that reminds me of Missing.

Nah im happy with this new release being different.

I love the new single. So much it gave me strength to listen to The Haves and read its lyrics

Jeeeesus. It’s almost a parody of these type of songs. It’s the worst thing he wrote ever.

Brother the Cloud- Ultra polished and lyrically a bit disjointed. His voice sounds ace though and we all know that voice is beyond any touch up. Turn that production on its head, slow the motherfucker down a bit, add some basic layers and it becomes less forgettable. Ultimately it’s just shite, save the man’s voice.

Has it been discussed here that the new song is almost certain to be about Chris Cornell?
