I tried Schlafly Brown Ale the other day, and it was pretty good. I'm not a Brown Ale guy normally, but I discovered I like 'em this time of year. This is normally the time of year I go for Porters or Stouts, but a few weeks ago a friend brought over some Bells Brown Ale. I was craving a stout / porter, and the brown ale hit the spot; like an easier drinking, lighter, and hoppier stout. So the other day, I'm at the store, I see the Schlafly and figure what the hell, I'll try it. It's not as good as the Bells, but it's still pretty good and works well with what I'm going for now. With the cold weather, I'm gonna explore brown ales more.

While at the store, I also picked up a six pack of Prima Pils. I actually hadn't had it in like 2 years, so I was curious to re-try it, and it basically confirmed what I already knew. It's the best pilsner out there (at least from what I've had). I think this summer, I'm gonna jump into all things pilsner.

I finally managed to snag a Stone Enjoy By IPA. That's a damn fine IPA. If you see one, I highly recommend you snag it.

Avery makes one that I've ordered a time or three called Ellie's Brown. It's rich and toasty as a brown ale should be. Hazelnut Brown Nectar from Rogue is also good. The hazelnut is not overpowering, making the beer incredibly drinkable. I'd drink the former with a meal, but I'd drink the latter on its own or with dessert.

Boy, Stone Ruination IPA is a bit much. Still, it has a place in the IBU pantheon and sometimes that place is worth visiting.

for me "age" is just a fancy way of saying "sitting in the bar because I either bought something else before I drank it all" or "forgot I had it"

Some people "cellar" their beer, which usually means they line their concrete basement floors with six packs. I've always been a bit amused by the concept.
