Yeah, I don't get this objection either. There have been assloads of amazing albums with weirdo sequencing: Battle of Evermore, Fell On Black Days, Modern Man, Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds, Stop Breathin', Nude, Femme Fatale, Radio Cure…the list of great albums with great tunes at track three goes on and on. So why is there this compulsion from (RM?) listeners to want all the RAWK right up front?
My biggest objection to the objection is letting it fundamentally ruin the song for you. Oh...it's a great song but I hate it cuz it's placed at number 9 on the record. Definitely not what the 9th song on a record's supposed to sound like.

For the record, I have no issues with its placement, only the quality of the song itself.

Which is totally different, I understand. You may be able to complain about flow or whatever, but you should be able to separate whether or not you like the song regardless of its placement on a record. But if you don't like a song, you don't like it.

That's a bit harsh mate.

As I mentioned a few posts earlier, the lyrics weren't as bad as I first thought. Sure there are a few bad moments that stick out but overall not too bad. I'm certainly not going to quote any of them to another human being though.

The line I'm Alive etc. Basically I find that whole verse/stanza a bit lacking. It doesn't work from me and the sarcastic line following, comes off more self defeating and wallowing than before. It pulls me out of my enjoyment of the song. My enjoyment, not necessarily yours/others.

Of which, my faves are Vampyre, Kalopsia, IAM and ...LC. These 4 songs are great (IMHO) musically and I enjoy them more than any QOTSA since Rated R. And I've tried retraacking but just end up listening to the release.

And also firmly tongue-in-cheek :)

For me it's QOTSA doing Tenacious D doing Physical Graffiti era Led Zep.

Struggle to think of a better 3 song run than FF>SS>IAM, especially towards the end of an album (could include Kalopsia & LC to make it a mighty fine 5-in-a-row too :nice: )

It's the best sounding song on the record by some margin for me too - which makes sense as it was the only song mixed by Joe Barresi.

It's actually the only thing from LC I keep coming back to, the only song that really scratches my Queens itch.

I'm mystified as to why they don't use Barresi as a matter of course, I think the debut and LTP stand head-and-shoulders above the rest of their output from a sonic perspective.

Side B is unfuckwithable in my estimation.
