I really enjoyed Oliver for about the first 3 to 4 segments I watched but then the smugness behind the comedy really turned me off.

His best moment was forcing himself to chug a Bud Light Lime after Sepp Blatter stepped down as FIFA head.

I like John Oliver. I wasn't expecting him back for a few more weeks at least but I expected a Boris Johnson/Brexit story to be his first piece back.

Just to make you aware. Arlene foster resigned from the ulster unionists in protest against the Good Friday agreement. She is now trying to make out that herself and the DUP are trying to protect it and it’s Dublin tearing up the GFA. This is outright lying on her part. Britain as a whole will rue the day the Tories got into bed with the DUP. Can only hope Boris ignores them and puts the border in the sea. It’s the only sensible option.
The DUP still haven’t signed up to the Good Friday Agreement and are hoping for a return of direct rule from London (which will happen if it’s no deal brexit, and direct rule is in completely against the terms of the GFA and pretty much shelves the peace process.)

Option A is most likely. DUP and unionists on radio all day screaming that Johnson’s hasn’t said anything about protecting them and the Union.

Dogs in the street know he’s going to agree to a Northern Ireland only backstop that puts a border in the sea.

He then has an election and sails through as a hero that got to deliver brexit with a deal.

The Eu are open to that too remember.

This is the only sensible option.

Problem is Cummings and Bannon are involved. So sensible might not be the agenda. Chaos and breaking up the EU definitely is their agenda.

Glad to see team Boris lost in Brecon and Radnorshire. I can’t help feeling that nothing would be better for the UK right now than a general election being triggered.

To be clear boris wasn’t running. It was a local candidate in a local election from the Lib Dem’s who won a safe Tory seat. A usually safe one that is.
But it does work as an objection to brexit and reflects on Boris and may affect him sooner rather than later.
I’m not giving out to you mc P just clarifying for anyone reading

It certainly has thrown the cat among the pigeons though.

We just need one Tory to defect now to upend the whole nonsense and put a stop to this.

Yeah, I only phrased it the way I did because of the way the multi-party collaborations and timing turned it more or less into a local referendum on both Boris and Leave in general.

It’s very possibly a small local election pebble that starts an avalanche though. To use a tired analogy.

I hate it. I want them to crash out and realise. And feel the full effect.

But I’ve got skin in the game and my own country is going to be badly affected and many family members and friends there also.

This is what we’re dealing with. They actually want to ditch the GFA. They’ll be singing a very different tune if ira bombs start going off in London and Manchester. But here they are asking for it. Astonishing.
