It's beginning to come across as uneven for me. I don't care for the track that comes after We Exist, or the second Here Comes the Night Time. Supersymmetry (sp?) is nice to have, but doesn't add much. The rest ranges from stellar to brilliant, though.

It's not as consistently good or as cohesive a piece of work as The Suburbs. That is their true masterpiece, so far.

I really think all their records have some spots of inconsistencies in them. They're all pretty damn good, but they all have songs that don't reach the impossibly high standard some of their songs get to. And with them making a habit out of having records with so many songs of such length they're going to keep having weak spots.

I most definitely agree with this. I just listened to all their albums before Reflektor twice over and found their first one to be my favorite of the bunch. It just felt more consistent and the flow of the record was just right.

The subsequent two, while good, never achieved a level of enjoyment from me as much as that first one. The Suburbs started and ended well for me, but I thought they had too many songs on that album. If it was trimmed to 12-13 songs I would probably rate it higher.

I have only just begun to listen to Reflektor. The title track absolutely blew me away. The other songs are really interesting. A bit of it isn't really my thing, but I can tell they're branching out and going to places they never have before, and I sure as hell respect them for that.

As a new fan, the only complaint I have against this band is Win Butler as a singer. He's not bad, and actually fairly competent to my ears. I just feel that his style is too... "indy" for lack of a better word. I'm not well versed in indy music since I'm fairly stuck in the 90's and 70's as far as my musical tastes go, but I feel his voice is a bit generic. Perhaps more listens of the materiel will change my mind.

That's exactly where I was probably my sophomore year of college. The only music I listened to was rock from 1967-to the mid 1970s and alternative rock from the 1990s. I swore off "indie" and rap and all kinds of other music (that I've now discovered a ton of when I put my barriers down) and I remember feeling weird listening to a voice like Butler's in that I'd never delved into the indie world before. But he's pretty damn good and the band as a whole has been capable of really incredible moments on all of their records. They broke indie music for me. Much like the Beastie Boys broke hip hop and rap for me several years ago as well.

James Murphy helped them make an emotionless bland techno rock album which is the most disappointing album of the year

Side 1 has a a few ok tracks but side 2 is boring and pointless.
