I Am Wrath - it was alright. Travolta did a fine job

Gus Van Sant's Psycho remake was on TV here last night and it caused me to discover this wonderful Bill Frisell guitar piece (with many nods to Bernard Herrmann's classic score) that plays over the end credits and has never been released elsewhere:

Watched 'Inside Out'. It was good, but was kind of a downer. They really kept piling on the bad before things got ok again. I was thinking it was going to be a light / funny movie, but it was heavier than I expected. All in all a solid flick by Pixar though.

Green Room.

I liked it but i was a little bit let down. i guess my expectations were too high.
Spoiler: show
its an intense and cool thriller and there are lots of good moments, but i feel this is just a hollywood cool version of a very good script. I mean that ending is such bullshit..those two killing everyone? with their face painted? its a shame because there was a good ending with them telling the rick silva story and just dying

Krampus.

Well, i loved it. I feel its a pretty good flick for kids, its scary and loved the practical effects. And the ending too.

I was really disappointed by that one. What did you like about the ending? It bugged me.

Well i loved that final shot of them being a part of the Krampus collection.., i hated the whole happy ending part but that final moment made sense with what the krampus was about. They are all trapped. They are all doomed.

Ah, see that's why I didn't like it. I don't like that it gave them no salvation. That doesn't seem fair to the characters and their struggles. It felt like empty horror movie pessimism that was out of sync with the themes and drama of the film.

I loved it, it felt fresh with the genre...and i feel the whole movie from the opening shots of people going crazy to buy something to the end is pessimistic about what christmas have become...I agree with that, and i felt relieved to know they are still trapped. At the end he got the christmas he wanted to...

I actually forgot about that opening montage. Which just makes me question this movie even more. It seems really incoherent thematically. I don't see how that consumerism satire plays out through the family drama?

for me the movie is not only about the drama if that family, but about what christmas have become to us. Is a moment we despise, we only care about the gifts, the black friday, we only need to consume. They dont want to see their family, they dont even remember the traditions. Thats why the Krampus has his place full of those families, because we are doomed. And the initial montage is superb in that sense.

People get off on this miserablist arthouse horror shit right now. It's dumb.
