Don't know if we're going back into lockdown this time, and I honestly have no idea when the vaccine will be available here
Have you guys secured your own supplies or are you part of the Pacific support that Australia plans on supporting. Can’t see you choosing the latter to be honest.
I have no idea. My wife and I were talking about it for about 20 minutes this morning before we realised neither of us had any idea what we were talking about

California a few days ago: we're no longer going to report metrics on the Rona and how it affects reopening because it will confuse you simple rubes.

California today: YOLO, shelter in place is lifted state wide.

Its just so transparently political. Not quite sure how the fan boys rationalize it.

Isn't Newsome just a few hundred thousand signatures away from a recall?

Yes, I think they have until March. But you see, a recall is an insurrection because reasons.

I’ve not been paying any attention to Cali at all, so correct me if I’m missing context, but a quick Google search shows me that their stay-at-home was issued on December 6th, which I’ve marked for reference sake on the new case timeline below.

While I would personally argue the order should be maintained...I also don’t see anything in the trend that would lead me to believe this decision is “transparently political.”

It also sounds like they’re going back to the color coded regional system, which I would hope means locations with overrun hospitals (ie LA) remain basically closed.

I'm looking forward to being allowed to get a haircut again, if my normal guy hasn't thrown in the towel at this point.

Its not clear to me that these restrictions were an effective intervention, but more of a punitive measure as thats the only lever our politicians seem able to pull.

Its not a good look to say, we're making these decisions based on this model and then being less transparent on it. Are decisions being made on previously agreed upon thresholds or not?

It'll be sadly ironic if the misuse of the term "shelter in place" leads people to be more dismissive of it in say, the case of a chemical spill.

What mcps graph doesn't show you is that basically every other state, lockdown happy or not, follows the same trend more or less. Line go up. Line go down. It's not because people are double masking and TAKING IT SERIOUSLY.

if you're tracking stay at home trends, look no further than hospital capactity, because that's what drives it:
As of Saturday, there were 17,810 patients in California hospitals with a confirmed case of COVID-19, a decrease of 17.7% from two weeks ago. Another 828 patients are suspected to have the disease.

Anyone who says the vaccine doesn't reduce transmission is either being malicious or is a total moron. Don't fall for that shit. Call anyone out who says it immediately.

The people in power keep reminding us of this "not proven to stop transmissibility" for a reason. Some of them rather enjoy the lockdowns and disruptions to normal life.
