Where is the hard evidence restaurants drive the spread for example? Or schools? It's not really there but if you're playing politics you make the move to restrict them because the deaths are coming anyway and you can't give them an excuse to come for your head.
The politicians are well meaning but also very much about being seen to doing something. Scientific data is being used and dismissed to fit the narrative, not as a driver of the narrative.

Hell, our government can't even provide a plan other than a loosey-goosey set of vaccination schedules. They won't commit to anything to allow people to plan their life with, even with a caveat of things are open to changing. I want to know when restrictions will be lifted. Is it when all front line workers and those over 80 (or 70) are vaccinated? When does Covid become a buyer beware world like the regular flu? What are they doing to accommodate travel in the future? Are they working with other countries to have a vaccine stamp for Covid to allow international, like there is for yellow fever and a few others? They seem much more interested in being seen to be doing something rather than the hard work of the plan to remove restrictions and get the hell out of our lives. What are their plans to provide mental health and addiction support, both things we know people are suffering from more under Covid than non-Covid times? They seem to be spending all their time and energy focusing that which they can't control rather than what they can.

you mean like the grand scheme of trying to prevent the spread of the disease?
What jumps out at you as the most successful intervention by a governor so far?
1 in 500 South Dakotans has died of covid
Thats pretty close to New York's numbers.

Their rebuttal of course will be that pierced nipples Cuomo was in the unfortunate position of getting hit with the NOVEL virus first and there was just SO MUCH WE DIDNT KNOW.

“Fairfax County should open schools or stop vaccinating teachers”

https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions ... -teachers/
At the Jan. 21 school board meeting, Fairfax Education Association President Kimberly Adams said she received her first vaccine dose on Jan. 14, two days ahead of the scheduled start for school personnel. She has said that her union would not support a return to full-time education even in the fall. The fall. As in September 2021. Nine months after she was vaccinated.

The union says that all students must also be vaccinated. Never mind that no current vaccine has been approved for use on children under the age of 14. Adams also wants 14 days of zero community spread. Neither of these goals is likely to occur this calendar year. The excuses pile up faster than the half-inch of snow that typically shuts down school operations.

Do you think some people are struggling with their mental health due to Covid or the restrictions placed on them by governments? If so, what do you see the governments doing to address this?

I see them going out of their way to meaningfully address (dollars and resources) and giving platitudes that are the equivalent of pull yourself by your bootstraps.

That's not asking them to have all the answers but to acknowledge the outcomes of their decisions and address those outcomes.

So you think kids should be remote until god knows when? Anyone can see by now that schools should be in person.

Of course Spike doesn't get it because his kid would just go to private school or have a tutor.

Some districts are arguing for hybrid indefinitely because the kids can't get vaccinated (vaccines not approved for those younger than 16).

It’s somewhat serious: https://namica.org/blog/impact-on-the-m ... -covid-19/

It’s also a legit question as to why the public should vaccinate teachers ahead of others who are working full time from the office or the store or the restaurant if those same teachers are not going back to the classroom until impossible metrics are met.

No sane person should be listening to these people. Your job is to teach. If you don't want to teach, quit

The demands of that teacher's union are unreasonable. If the teachers are vaccinated, they should teach. The risk to them is very low unless they have AIDS or asplenia.

My wife's a teacher. I have no problems sending her back to work with a vaccine.
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?
