What if we actually do find out that his worst indulgences were meant specifically for Backspacer? What if we find out that some of the more indulgent stuff on this record is actually really cool because the songs are more conducive to it?
Yup, for that reason I hope the next single isn't Future Days. A mid-tempo track would showcase where the production is going the best I think. Lightning Bolt would be good as it has a lot of different parts and a mix of guitar and piano. I really want to know how that song sounds. The guitars and how "layered" it is especially.
Definitely. I want to know the piano doesn't bring it to a halt like it does Unthought Known. The good news is there doesn't seem to be enough space in LB for the piano to ruin it.
Seing as there was only one review even mentioning the piano I guess it won't very prominent. I hope it's gonna be in the background in the part after the first chorus. (Always something, never noothing...) Listening to it again right now, I really like this song.

Me too, it keeps getting better. That part was my first 'hook', making me go from 'I hate this' to hmmmm... might play it again, see what happens.

I just noticed that Boom is playing on this song for the first time. Doesn't seem like a crucial part of the song.

Really? Where? Organ would work. Actually I wish FD had organ and no piano.

You can see him play but it's hard to hear him. In the "always something, never nothing" part you can hear him (At least I think I hear him.) playing the chord once with every chord change.

Yep, keys would be OK in that part. I even like the chord changes during the "Until the lightning strike, sets you freeeeee, yeah yeah yeah yeah" part. Hopefully the cool chord change isn't neutered in favour of the cheesy lyric.

I appreciate Pj trying things like the piano and that horn section and backing singers. But for my taste its not really what I expect from Pj. None of it really worked. Not even the piano in a lot of cases, which I don't think add much to songs I like such as UK.
As to boom playing in the live setting, not sure it adds much if anything at all.
Crazy Mary used to be good.

Getting the single right about now would be swell.

Is there another single coming out pre-release? Usually the second single comes out right after the album drops to help promote it, no?

I think they'll release a second single right before, probably this month. That's what's been rumoured. Didn't they release two singles before Backspacer?

Nah, JB came out about a month after, if I recall correctly.

I think the backing singers are either just Ed overdubs or other PJ members, no? Those BVs go back quite a long way.

Although, "The Fixer" had "Supersonic" as a b-side.

There will be a new single most likely. Mym was 3 months ago. Probably sirens or LB.

Not quite sure why people are getting the feeling for a second single soon then. But I did read that the dude who predicted other things about LB and was right ('PJ guy', was that his name?) mentioned a second single coming 'VERY soon' so some people might be going on that.

Ah yes, that's the other reason I was thinking it, just the amount of time MYM has been out.

No, back a few years ago on a US tour they employed backing singers and a horn section.
