Absolutely agree. If it had just been a safe generic middle chapter, we’d see all of them to come slip into marvelesque cookie cutter blandness.

They are basically genre pics so there are similarities in style and structure that help signify that the films are apiece with each other, but no more than you are likely to find in one star wars movie to another (or one pearl jam album to another)

All true but they have become really formulaic and forgettable.

It’s perfectly fine to not like a movie but, within the structure of the genre, it’s hard to go from Homecoming to Ragnarok to Black Panther (to infinity war, probably) and accuse them of being overly formulaic

I still really love the fact that Luke says the name Darth Sidious in TLJ. There’s so much to unravel in that. Looks like he went looking for this info or did Anakin tell him? Looking for it would have been really difficult. Everyone in the galaxy knew Palpatine became emperor. Nobody knew he was Darth Sidious except Vader.
Be a cool book to read about him on that journey. And all the rest

I'd rather have an animated or live action series/mini series that followed Luke's journey right after Return of the Jedi.

I love all the pronouns in TLJ. It's so specific and poignant when anyone uses "Luke" or "Young Skywalker" or "Rey" or "Ben" or "Kylo" or whatever else. Hearing Yoda say "Luke" instead of "Young Skywalker" almost made me cry.
