The Invitation.

What a fine movie. Its a mixed between a good drama and a thriller, with a great sound design and some really cool directing choices, although the acting seemed a little off and weird at times.
Interesting.

Hush.

Well, there was a better movie here....the premise sounded great and the movie is not. It remind me of that great great thriller Mute Witness. Thats a great movie.

Yeah - great concept, mediocre execution

There were a few things wrong with this, but two stood out to me:
Spoiler: show
He took his mask off way too early, and the scene where the neighbor's boyfriend came over was too far fetched - why would the guy believe for a second he was a cop?

I liked Hush. I find Flanagan to be a compelling filmmaker. He seems extremely precise and calculating, as if every moment in his movies is loaded with deliberation and meaning.
Spoiler: show
That said, the movie was hurt significantly for me by the protagonist's death fake-out. I fucking hate that shit. It's such a slap in the face to the audience. Blatant manipulation.

That moment was such a joke. And i like Flanagan too, but Mute Witness did a better job with a similar storyline.

Heard this just now and it blew my mind.

Saw the Warcraft trailer. Never played the game but I love fantasy. Hope it's great but it stinks of overbearing message movie even just from the trailers.

Reeks of it doesn't it? But new captain America and BvS also has that same us v them almost propaganda thing going on so if the 'art' is now being used as how to think about real world events, again? We're headed into ugly territory.

Chinatown should not be below A Serious Man. But all three are great.

There was just something about ASM that struck a chord with me--probably a mix of the academic life and the fact that it was a Coen movie about a real family (whereas usually their films are about surrogate families if there are families in them at all). But Chinatown was wonderful--my favorite scene was the chase through the orange grove, somehow, but it kept me glued to the TV and away from my parental duties for 2 hours.
